PBS presents fuel-lubricated jet engine for UAV and UCAV (sponsored)

PBS has been producing turbine power units since 1970, when it became the supplier of APUs and ECSs for the L-39 aircraft (approximately 3,000 APUs and 3,000 ECSs delivered so far). In 2004, PBS expanded its series production to include turbojet engines. They now have the unique ability of being capable of developing, manufacturing, and testing all of their aircraft products in-house resulting in almost complete self-sufficiency.
PBS TJ100P New big hero in a small body
The new turbojet fuel lubricated PBS TJ100P offers first-class propulsion, suitable for a variety of aerial targets and modern high-speed UAV systems. It is a modification of the world-proven PBS TJ100, installed in more than 1,000 applications with various customizations, i.e., saltwater recovery, customized design of fixing points, an exhaust nozzle, augmented electrical power output up to 2.3 kW. The user will appreciate that the oil-free system has no tilt angle limits during operation and has a decreased weight of almost 2 kg (total engine weight 17.6 kg). The turbojet engine‘s advantage is its excellent thrust-to-weight ratio. With a thrust of 1,250 N, the engine offers outstanding performance.
Wide range of possibilities
PBS covers thrust categories 400; 900; 1,100; 1,250 and 1,500 newtons. Recently, PBS launched a 1,500 N thrust version of the designated PBS TJ150. Having the same diameter (272 mm) as the PBS TJ100 engine and with the increased thrust makes this engine stand out in its category.
In addition, PBS have plans to increase the thrust of its engine PBS TJ80 significantly. Currently offering a thrust of 900 N, PBS plan to increase the thrust to 1,100 N whilst maintaining its current engine outside diameter (235 mm) and weight (12 kg). This engine is specifically suitable for air-launched applications. It has accelerated start of under 8 seconds at 6,000 m above sea level. The turbojet engine PBS TJ40-G1NS excels with its maximum thrust of 425 newtons, making it a perfect choice for target drones that need an affordable yet reliable and high output propulsion unit. The main features, which distinguish PBS jet engines from competitors are their advanced air-launching capabilities, high electrical power output, and excellent thrust-to-weight ratio. This year PBS announced an exciting new project to develop a new turbojet engine with an increased 2,000-2,500 N thrust for UAV and UCAV.

PBS is also a renowned supplier of investment castings for the aerospace, energy, transportation, and construction industries. Thanks to the production of aerospace turbines, the company has expanded its production of cryogenic turbine products. Their thirty years of experience has reinforced the possibility of cooperation with Airbus to supply cryogenic turboexpanders for the planned development of liquefied hydrogen aircraft propulsion.
